Turkish culture and travel opportunities are presented at MATKA 17 fair in many ways. For example, there will be experts sharing their own travel tips as well as wonderful dance and art performances. Both traditional dance and ebru painting have a long history in Turkey. At Turkish Tourism Board’s own stand you will find several tourism service representatives who will tell you more about travel possibilities ranging from city holidays to active holidays.

Inspirational culture trip to Turkey

The traditional stage folk dance group that is performing in MATKA 2017 comes from Turkey. Traditional dance is still a very popular hobby and the dance is vital part of festivities and events. In comparison to Finland, the dance styles differ greatly from area to area. Also the dancers’ outfits have differences. The group performing in MATKA will present dances from different parts of Turkey. Stage folk dance group performs in the opening ceremony of the first professional day and also on Friday at 4 PM and Saturday at 12 AM.

Ebru aka marbling is hundreds of years old Turkish form of painting art. The artist uses water and gum-based colors to create images. To finish the piece of art, the artist saves the image to the paper by placing it over the water. Turkish artist ebru artist will perform in the TUI Inspiration Stage on Saturday at 4 PM and on Sunday at 2.30 PM. The artist can also be seen at the Turkey Tourism Board’s own stage.

Experts sharing their insight

Jere Pesonen, who has worked in the travelling industry almost 20 years in Turkey and now represents Turkish Tourism Board, has prepared two shows about Turkey’s travel trends and Turkey’s most relevant tourism information.

There will be many experts on stage during the public days as well. Reeta Paakkinen’s lecture was one of the most wanted programs in Turkey’s Facebook site when the public was asked opinions and suggestions about the program. She will be seen at Mondo Stage on Saturday at 2 PM to talk about Turkey for more experienced travellers. Paakkinen has lived in Turkey and she has also written books about the country and its culture.

Adventurer and entrepreneur Carina Räihä is talking about active holidays in Turkey on Sunday at 11.30 AM in Mondo Stage. She has organized wellness and sport trips to Turkey for many years now. Active holiday tips received many votes on Turkey’s Facebook inquiry as well.

Sampo Marjamaa, host of the Finlands Funniest Homevideos, will also have his own interview session with Turkey theme. He will be present at Mondo Stage at 1.30 PM.

Turkey Tourism Board’s own stand will have many tourism experts e.g. from Alanya, and they will happily share their destination specific knowledge. Also Turkish Airlines has representatives at the Turkey Tourism Board’s stand.
