Turkish Embassy’s Counselor’s Office for Cultural Affairs and Promotion and ice hockey team Jokerit have agreed to continue cooperation during the first KHL season of Jokerit.

Turkey has been a sponsor for Jokerit already for the season 2013–2014 in domestic league. The cooperation continues even though the league changes. From now on you can see Turkey’s logo in Jokerit’s shirts also in new arenas.

“The cooperation between Jokerit and Turkish Embassy’s Counselor’s Office for Cultural Affairs and Promotion began on the previous ice hockey season and we were really happy about that. In the future Jokerit will play in KHL, so continuing our cooperation and the furtherance of Turkey’s tourism are great and natural thing for our team, which is becoming more international. Turkey is one of the most popular tourist destinations in KHL countries”, the CEO of Jukka Korhonen says.

“We Turkish appreciate long partnerships, like here with Jokerit. KHL is an opportunity also for us, since it’s played widely in Eastern Europe, also in the Baltic countries, where the interest towards Turkey’s tourism is growing”, says Arzu Emel Yildiz from Turkish Embassy’s Counselor’s Office for Cultural Affairs and Promotion.

The first KHL match of Jokerit will be on 4th of September in Hartwall Arena, where they will play against Dinamo Minsk.

“I have to admit that during the last year I’ve become to watch Finnish ice hockey, thanks to the cooperation. The atmosphere in the games is very different from what I’ve used to experience in Turkish football games”, Yildiz tells.
